BOR, April 16, 2015 [Gurtong] – The Commissioner of Duk County, Akech Deng said access to mobile telecommunication network in his county has become almost impossible.
“You know communication in Duk is very limited, we only get it in the evening and in the morning, that’s when you can call. And not in many areas it’s only in a Boma called Poktap that is where you can at least receive a phone call,” Commissioner Akech said.
“So if something happens you can’t get the message in time,” he added.
In 2013, Zain Telecommunication Company pledged to setup its activities in the entire county of Jonglei state to boost the communication system in the local areas but this was interrupted by the current crisis.
In Jonglei state, Duk, Pigi, Nyrol and Pochalla Counties are the only counties that have been left out of 11 counties with no telecommunication network in the state.
