RUMBEK, December 16, 2015 [Gurtong]- More than 230 trucks carrying goods for sale have been stranded in Yirol West County headquarters of Lakes State since November due to the poor state of roads.
The roads which were affected by floods also have pot holes which have hindered the movement of the trucks to their destinations.
The businessmen who own the trucks have decided to work with the County authorities to repair the roads so that they are able to move.
The trucks loaded with different goods are supposed to head to Rumbek town, Western Bahr El Ghazal State, Abyei and Northern Bahr El Ghazal states.
Bol Anhiem Jok, Yirol West County Information Officer said that the County authorities and businessmen have agreed that 40 litres of fuel will be provided by the businessmen and the remaining contribution by the County authorities.
He also said that the cost of living in Yirol has increased.
“Life in Yirol town here is a bit expensive. With vehicles stranded the prices of gods have become alarming.”
