National TV Back On Air After Experiencing A Technical Fault

By Jok P Mayom

JUBA, 11 June 2016 [Gurtong]-The Managing Director of South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), James Magok Chilim announced on Tuesday that the national television was off air due to what he described as “technical fault.”

“We are back on air but still on testing. The broadcast is normal as it was but the engineers are saying they are still working on it. The technical problem is still being solved by the engineers” Magok told Gurtong on Saturday.

“We resumed the broadcast on Wednesday evening.  It was only two days; Monday and Tuesday when we were off-air” The Managing Director said.

In a statement on June 07th 2016, the management of the TV and leadership of the Ministry of Information, Communication, Telecommunication and Postal Services announced to the public of the technical fault that hit the station.

Magok earlier rubbished allegations published by one of the local newspapers of misinforming the public that the TV was off air due to lack of dollars.
“This is a lie and baseless”. “We regret for the inconvenient cause by the technical fault” he said.

SSBC is the only national TV operating in the country.
