The Ministry of Health will be launching a blood donation campaign today targeting people of 18 years and above.

By James Deng Dimo

WAU, 10 November 2016 [Gurtong] –The project manager at the blood transfusion department in the Ministry of Health, Narik Peter said donating blood is important so that those who are in need are assisted.

She also noted with concern that anybody suffering from high blood pressure, lactating mothers and women on their menses must not be allowed to donate blood.

Those donating blood will be screened in order to ensure that no contaminated blood is taken to the blood bank.

“Donating blood came from your heart, many of our people are dying due to lack of blood, therefore, if you have donated your blood, this means you are helping your citizens,” she said.
Narik urged the people in Wau to turn out in big numbers for the voluntary donation.
