The decision according to Sabrino Majok  Majok, Secretary General of Aweil East State said the decision was made to recognize their role in the liberation struggle in Sudan, saying the traditional chiefs will also help the State government to carry out its work effectively.

"After the creation of the new States, our government in Aweil East found it important because Chiefs play a great role in the community and in the government. Those Chiefs also participated in the liberation struggle," said Majok while addressing reporters last Friday.
