WAU, 09 February 2017 [Gurtong]-Deng who was speaking to school children at Khor -Mudir primary school in Wau town also called on parents to ensure that their parents go to school.
“Am happy to see you here at Khor- Mudir primary school and I want to see more children going to school, this is very important,” said Hoc.
“Can you become a Governor without going to school, can you become a Minister of Education without going to school, can you become a medical doctor without going to school, and can you become an engineer without going to school. So going to school is very important, now you have come to school. This is the first step and we want all children to come to school, that is why you have an opportunity to learn,” Hoc addressed the school children.
The minister also told the school children that they must attend school regularly without missing out on any classes to avoid being left behind in the curriculum.
“Don’t come like today and tomorrow you are absent, you must come to school every day, do you understand? If you are absent, you will miss lessons and when you miss lessons you will fail the examinations at the end of the year and then you will repeat the class so you need to attend regularly and when you are attending your lesson, you need to be attentive,” he said.
The minister also addressed the girls and told them that they must complete their education before dropping out to go for marriage.
“There is a problem with you our young girls when you reach primary 4 to 6, you drop out aiming at marriage, this is not good, there is no fixed time for marriage, you have to complete University first before getting married,” said minister.
