Ministry Of Health In Wau State Destroys Expired Drugs

The Director General in the Ministry of Health in Wau State, Christopher Paul Madut has said the ministry on Wednesday burnt down a substantial amount of expired drugs.

By James Deng Dimo

WAU, 13 October 2017 [Gurtong]-According to the Director, most of the drugs that expired were not much needed in the State.

“There is a big quantity of medicine that has been destroyed in Wau. Most of these drugs have expired. You may wonder and be surprised why this amount was destroyed, my answer to it is, by then we used to have a system called push. In the push system, we received drugs from the national ministry of Health. The drugs are just sent here without analysing which ones are the most needed drugs. Am not saying that we don’t use them but we are not in need of them at that particular time of which they sometimes reach their expiry dates,” said Madut.

Madut however said the system has now changed as only drugs requested by the State are delivered from the national ministry of Health.
