JUBA, 11 December, 2017 [Gurtong]-The Minister of General Education and Instructions, Deng Deng Hoc Yai announced on Saturday that it is the first time since 2011 for primary eight candidates to sit for the unified examinations managed by the ministry of general education and instructions.

Minister Deng said it is a significant reform in conformity with the South Sudan Education Act 2011 which allows all primary leaving candidates to sit for a unified examination.

Minister Deng urged all the State ministers to ensure that the examinations are managed without any interruptions throughout the week.

He said the National Examination Council will be ready to receive and report and address any challenges that may be encountered in the States.

“I urge them to report any challenge to the council immediately. I also call upon the entire education sector to exert more efforts for the overall success of the examination,” Deng said.

However, there are no examinations taking place in Latjor, Fashoda and Maiwut States as they did not register any candidate, the minister revealed.

Candidates from Bieh, Fangak and Akobo States are sitting for their examinations in Jonglei State due to security reasons.

The PLE examination was slated to take place from fifth to eight December 2017, but the ministry of General Education and Instruction was forced to postpone the exams due lack of funds to print the papers.
