YEI, 13 March 2018 [Gurtong] –
Speaking at Emmanuel Cathedral last Sunday, David Lokonga said “ I was happy when I heard the news over the media that I have been removed as the Governor of Yei River State and to me as I consider it as a normal change in the government” he said.

He further said, “In a special way I want to thank H.E president Salva Kiir for having trusted me with a responsibility to be the Governor for Yei River State for the last two years and four months and I have tried my best to lay the foundation for Yei River State and I will still serve the government in any capacity given to me” he added.

Lokonga welcomed his successor Emmanuel Adil Anthony saying he is ready to help the new Governor with technical advice so that that they all participate in ensuring that peace and stability returns to Yei River State.

“I will not rebel against the government like what other people are doing in other parts of the country where after being removed from office, you jump into the bush. I will not do that mistake because I am for peace and the people of Yei River State and South Sudan need peace and therefore I will cooperate with the new Governor in making Yei a better place for all of us” he added.

Lokonga called on the youth and the entire people of Yei River State to embrace peace, unite and rally behind to support Emmanuel Adil (Yei River State Governor) so that he can work hard to serve the people of Yei.

Meanwhile, Bishop Hillary Luate Adeba of the Episcopal diocese of Yei appreciated the role played by the Ex-Governor in maintaining relative peace and stability in Yei River State amidst difficult times of political crisis that affected the State in 2016.

“I want to thank you David because you stood with us at those difficult days where insecurity and economic challenges were beyond control. Thank you so much for having maintained relative peace. As a church we will continue to work and support the new Governor Emmanuel Adil so that we all see Yei River State returns to its peaceful status” Adeba added.
