JUBA, 27 April 2018 [Gurtong]-He will be buried in Bar-Mayen at the family grave yard.

The coffer was escorted by soldiers to Juba International Airport where President Salva Kiir Mayardit, speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly Anthony Lino Makana, Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs Kuol Manyang Juuk, and some government officials paid their last respect to the fallen general.

Speaking to the press, SPLA spokesperson Brigadier Gen. Lul Ruai Koang said the contributions made by the government and Egypt since the late passed away were indications of solidarity with the family and country.

“I am impressed with the joint efforts from the country and our neighbors. This is a great portrayal of solidarity, togetherness and unity during the time of national mourning.  Such commitment was last witnessed when the Late   Dr. John Garang De’ Mabior passed away in 2015,” he said.

Government spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth described general Ajongo’s demise as a big blow to the country.

“We have lost a great man, a liberator, an icon and a non-tribal leader.  It is a great loss to the army since he was doing a lot to reform it into really national army,” Makuei said adding that the memories of the late will not be forgotten by the citizens.

“We pray for strength for the family members, friends and SPLA forces. He will be forever remembered since he has left a rich legacy. He will never be forgotten since he played an important role in the liberation struggle,” Makuei said.
