FAO Distributes Agricultural And Fishing Materials To Farmers In Eastern Lakes

Diar Rehabilitation for Development Association (DRDA) in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization last week launched seeds, tools and fishing materials distribution in Eastern Lakes State.

YIROL, 24 May 2018 [Gurtong]-
The FAO and DRDA distributions of emergency seeds, tools and fishing material is to support the livelihood of 7,500 vulnerable groups and household in Yirol West and Yirol East Counties of Eastern Lakes State.

At least 7,500 vulnerable groups targeted during the distribution have benefited from the project that was meant to support and assist the household which was supported by FAO and implemented by the DRDA.

Speaking to Gurtong, the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Coordinator in Eastern Lakes State, Mr. Deng Majok urged the beneficiaries to make good use of what they have received from FAO.

Deng appreciated the government of Eastern Lakes State led by Gen Managar Boung Aluonge for their role to prioritize agriculture to eradicate hunger in the State.

The supervisor for Yirol East County for Diar For Rehabilitation Development Association (DRDA), Mayen Thuc Deng said the distribution program is targeting people in six Payams of Yirol East County.

He also encouraged the farmers to cultivate these seeds to alleviate hunger in the State.
