Bahr el Ghazal Authorities Backup Closure of Illegal Checkpoints

Police authorities in Greater Bahr el Ghazal States have begun implementing a presidential order on the closure of all checkpoints across the country.

WAU, 22 September 2018 [Gurtong] - On Wednesday, Wau State Police Commissioner, Major Samuel Ajuong left Wau to Tonj, Gok, Western and Eastern Lakes, to meet the police Commissioners of these States in order to begin implementing the order.

Speaking to Gurtong in Tonj, General Ajuong said the checkpoints were not immediately closed due to many challenges.

He said the prices of goods were increasing due to multiple tax imposed on the traders.
On his part, Tonj State Police Commissioner Major General James Madut Ngor said his State is ready to implement the order.
