JUBA, 29 September 2018 [Gurtong]-The Algerian born coach Ahcene Aït-Abdelmalek stepped down on Wednesday as the coach of the national team-the Bright Stars.

Assistant coach Ramsey Sebit has been appointed the interim coach to take charge of the national team.

In his resignation letter, Coach Abdelmalek said he resigned for reasons he could not disclose.
The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) said on Thursday that the association approved the coach’s resignation because they realized he was not as competent as stipulated in his CV.

“The head Coach of the national team Ait Abdelmalek handed to us his resignation letter yesterday (Wednesday) and the board decided to approve it because we realized that he is not qualified to coach South Sudan,” Alul Daniel, the SSFA Spokesperson told  journalists on Thursday in a press conference.

“We have finished paying him his dividends and he left for Germany immediately,” Daniel said.
The SSFA spokesperson also claimed that the coach was not cooperating with the Association and the players.

However, some sources in the SSFA Association said the coach was angered by a decision by the Association to recall the Khartoum based players he had dismissed prior to the AFCON2019 Qualifier against Mali earlier this month.

Coach Abdelmalek had coached the Burundian national football team, from 2015 to 2016 and was appointed as a new coach for South Sudan in February this year.

He took charge of the Bright Stars in a competitive match where he lost to Mali by 3-0 in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers.

His second competitive match was supposed to be against Gabon on the twelfth of October this year.
