BOR, 09 January, 2019 [Gurtong]-The Director for Jonglei State Revenue Authority, Michael Khor, says last year’s establishment of a unified revenue authority has dictated that no other body should legally collect taxes and revenues for the State government.
Khor added that only the Municipality and National government are partly allowed to levy garbage and profit taxes respectively.
The revenue authority is yet to create one single account where all collections would be channeled, citing delay in the memo presentation by the Finance Ministry to the Council of Ministers.
He warned illegal tax collectors to stop exploitation of tax payers before the law takes its course.
“The money collected from the tax payers are mainly used for development that includes construction of schools, healthcare units, roads network that connect villages with the major town” said the Director.
