Juba, 25th March, 2011 [Gurtong] – 15,890 candidates in South Sudan will on Monday sit for Sudan School Certificate Examination, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology announced on Friday during a press conference in his office.
While speaking in Juba, H.E Michael Milli Hussein said that, necessary reparations had been reached; pointing out that all examination papers and other materials had reached all centers in all the States.
The Minister said that there were 98 centers in the region including; Upper Nile – 27; Unity – 6; Jonglei – 4; Western Bahr el Ghazal – 14; Northern Bahr el Ghazal – 4; Warrap – 5; Lakes – 4; Central Equatoria – 19; Western Equatoria – 14; and Eastern Equatoria – 1.
He also noted that there had been an increase in this year’s number of the candidates going to sit for the exams compared to last year. He said that the population of the students this year has increased by 8% from last year’s 14,604 to this year’s 15,890.
“The candidates will be sitting for academic, technical and commercial papers,” said Dr. Milli. He appealed to all the candidates to take the examinations seriously.
The Ministry had arranged with all State authorities to provide adequate security for the students and the examination centers.
He also reported that the South Sudanese students who had registered for the exams in Northern Sudan will sit for the exams in South Sudan or in the North in their convenience.
